The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office has shut down the majority of Owl Creek Road because of an emotionally distraught man who lives along the road, a deputy said Monday morning.
Authorities were called to the man’s home Sunday around 10:30 or 11 p.m. and have been there ever since, said sheriff’s deputy Jeff Lumsden.
“We have an individual suffering from emotional problems,” he said.
He declined to give the home’s address or say whether the man has weapons. But the sheriff’s office “figured it was prudent to close the road,” Lumsden said.
Police and counselors are continuing to talk to the man to alleviate the situation.
The road was shut between West Buttermilk Road near the airport to Highline Road in Snowmass Village.
