The Aspen Skiing Co. lift operator who died at the Snowmass Ski Area on Thursday has been identified as Jeffrey Beadle.
Beadle, 47, was skiing by himself at the time of the accident at the bottom of the Cirque Headwall. He died after suffering multiple chest injuries, according to a statement released Friday by the Pitkin County Coroner’s Office.
Beadle was originally from Centralia, Ill.
“This is a shocking and tragic incident that deeply affects everyone in the company,” said Mike Kaplan, president and CEO of the SkiCo. “Our deepest sympathies and condolences go out to his family and friends at this time.”
The skier who found Beadle called Snowmass Ski Patrol at 1:50 p.m., a SkiCo statement says. Beadle was unconscious and unresponsive when patrol arrived at the scene. They began advanced life-saving procedures and continued their efforts as he was transported to an ambulance.
