Nurishah (Holly) Al-Raschid died peacefully in her sleep on March 17, 2008, at Heritage Park Care Center in Carbondale.
Nurishah was born in New Jersey, and spent most of her life in New York
City and Miami Beach, Florida. She moved to the Roaring Fork Valley a
few years ago to be close to her beloved daughter and son-in-law,
Bedrishah and Douglas Wilson. Nurishah, who was known as the Princess,
will always be remembered for her great beauty, her warmth, her glamor,
her fabulous sense of fashion and style and her terrific sense of
humor. Over her long life and right to the end, people continued to ask
if she was a movie star.
Nurishah was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mohammed, and by her beloved brother, Louis Marton, Jr, Esq.
Nurishah is survived by her daughter, Bedrishah Wilson and her
son-in-law, Douglas Wilson, of Aspen; her sister-in-law Ruth Marton of
Passaic, New Jersey; her nephew, Dr. Randy Marton and his wife, Pat
Barbarito; her great-nieces, Victoria and Jackie Barbarito-Marton of
Boonton Township, New Jersey; her niece, Barbara M. Rosenberg and her
husband Larry; her great-nephew, Brett Rosenberg, of Delray Beach,
Florida; and her niece, Bonnie Marton, of Concord, Massachusetts. She
will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial for family and friends will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Good Friday, March 2, at the Aspen Chapel.
