Pool guys conked on Red Mountain

Aspen Daily News Staff Report
Two pool maintenance men were overcome by fumes at a Red Mountain home yesterday and rushed to Aspen Valley Hospital, where they recovered.

The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office responded to the midday call of “semiconscious” workers with an ambulance and two firemen.

The swooning Colorado Poolscapes employees had been working in an enclosed room where the pool’s heater was operating. Its exhaust fan was running into the room, rather than funneling fumes out, according to the sheriff’s office.

“When I got there they were dizzy, nauseous and confused,” said sheriff’s deputy Adam Crider.

Firefighters cleared the noxious gas from the room as the affected workers were taken to the hospital and administered oxygen.
