In Brent Gardner-Smith’s article of Friday, June 27, about the Cattle Creek Crossing proposal, Pat Smith says, “That’s the point of the whole development — to impact RFTA. Our plan is to build a community for working people who will use the RFTA system.”
Maybe such logic will work, if every worker who lives in Cattle Creek commits to riding RFTA. However, how do we know that owners in Cattle Creek are also workers in the valley?
Second-home owners can buy a unit in the 1,000-unit development, too. Since they will probably not ride the bus, would it not be beneficial to the three counties, and locals, if Cattle Creek Crossing were zoned 100 percent resident occupied like Aspen Village and North Forty?
If the development is for locals, as Pat Smith says, let’s insure it remains so. Unless the zoning is changed to something that will keep the project for locals, we are almost guaranteed thousands more vehicles on Highway 82.
