Come hear Horst

Editor’s note: The Felix Hell organ recital was listed in both the weekly Time Out Night Beat and daily ADN community calendars.

Editor:

This past Sunday evening, the young, world-famous organist, Felix Hell, made his fifth appearance at Aspen Community Church. At just 22 he already has released eight CD recordings. Two people drove in from Salt Lake for the performance and a woman from Pittsburgh planned her vacation around his recital.

And what was the coverage on this event in local newspapers? Besides the advertisements paid for by the church, there was nothing. It wasn’t even listed in the weekend events. I sent pictures and a press release to both papers. Can’t we do a little better?

Two more recitals are scheduled: July 17, Horst Buchholz, music director of Denver’s Sacred Heart Basilica Cathedral, will perform; and on July 29, Joseph Galena, director of music at the Air Force Academy, will appear at the church. The organ itself is the second largest on the Western Slope.
