Council totally out of touch

Editor:

I just don’t get it.

The mayor and council had a golden opportunity to put the Burlingame screw-up behind them, and they elected to feed the fire by making believe we taxpayers will accept their lame excuses. Appointing some crony to do some numbers on the project is a slap in the face of every concerned citizen. “Oh! Let’s have a public meeting and make everything go away.” Hah! Do what Marilyn Marks would do and appoint an independent investigator to put this to rest.

Mayor, council, you are totally out of touch. Pull yourselves away from your mirrors and stop breathing your own exhaust for a minute and take charge of this problem. It appears that you intend to stonewall this situation and hope it dies. Sorry, guys, this is a tar baby, and you are stuck big time.

Clear the air before you try to sell us hundreds of millions of dollars in debt for a project that has not been properly planned. This, unfortunately, is a perfect example of what happens when the government gets into the development business: The reviews and mitigations that any developer would be subject to are completely ignored.

Politicians designing and building a housing project with tax money: Is that scary, or is it a joke?
