Come out and walk

Editor:

On May 17, several hundred walkers are expected to participate in the MS Lifelines Walk, presented by Wells Fargo.

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the MS Walk, nearly 200 walkers and 26 teams have pre-registered to join the movement against MS, as they hike the five-mile loop at the No Name rest stop east of Glenwood Springs to show their support for the Western Slope MS chapter.

Check-in begins at 8 a.m. with a start time of 9 a.m. There is no registration fee. For the athlete enthusiast, there will be a 5K run before the Glenwood walk. There is a $25 registration fee for the 5K run only; race day registration is $30. To register for the run, call 970-241-8975.

There will be a pancake breakfast for $5 at 7:30 a.m. provided by the Kiwanis Club, along with prizes and entertainment that will aid in the morning’s festivities.

The Currys will perform at 8 a.m. Walkers will also have a unique opportunity to visit the Experience Tent, which allows people to experience what it is like to have MS through the use of experiential items such as water flippers, scratched glasses and latex gloves.
