Nuclear energy is bogus

Editor:

This is a response to the letter by Jack Spencer and Nicolas Loris of the Heritage Foundation printed in the June 10 Aspen Daily News.

It seems that those who advocate nuclear power never mention the problem of nuclear waste, let alone the  dangers of incidents like those that occurred at Three Mile Island (1979) and Chernobyl (1986, with 7 million people affected, half of them children). Even if Yucca Mountain radioactive waste repository is approved and operated without further opposition, dangers of transporting radioactive waste from around the nation are unacceptable.

So, can nuclear energy provide clean and safe energy? Bogus! To reduce our carbon dioxide output, put efficiency and renewables first!
