Editor:
In response to Mindy Weston's letter to the editor of Feb. 21: Your letter has brought much sadness into my life. My friends are calling to inquire as to who you are. Please call me so that we can talk and I can know the source of your misinformation and find peace in our lives.
1. Yes, I attended the gala event at the St. Regis Hotel sponsored by the Aspen Center for Integral Health. My good friends Glenda and Jerry Greenwald started that fine organization in 2000 and I have admired them (and their fine staff and board) for eight years now. They are bringing a new level of truth and integrity to the health care arena, a very valuable contribution. The evening was a great success.
2. The harassment issue involves the Board of Elders at First Baptist Church, now called "Crossroads." My best friend, Nancy Lee Wall and her brother Charles Wall, gave me a Range Rover in August 2003. It seems that the Board of Elders at First Baptist felt that I was misusing the car and demanded that I give it back. I have always wondered what jurisdiction the church had over a gift between friends. Some thought it was a gift to the 501(c)3 Nutritional Biomedical Research Institute, but in Colorado a car cannot be given to a business, so the title was listed in my name as executive director. The Walls and I have all documents.
When I protested the action by the Board of Elders, I was placed under "church discipline" and later was arrested without warrant or warning at First Baptist Church in 2005 as Nan and I were preparing coffee and pastries for the hospitality hour. That same issue was the basis of a letter from pastor Steve Woodrow to me in August 2007 and another arrest on Jan. 13, 2008.
Although I now go to another church, I had hoped Crossroads church would forgive and reconcile. I was wrong. Pastor Steve Woodrow's calls to my husband and children reveal that his ideas are the same as yours. It is my heartfelt desire to clear these issues and bring integrity to this unfortunate series of untruths. My deepest desire is to find reconciliation with Charles and Nancy Wall. The estrangement of our friendship has broken my heart. Nan was my Chi Omega sorority sister and a prayer partner for four years. My constant prayer is that the church will help heal these painful scars.
3. I am told that an anonymous person is calling the hotels where I am holding seminars to protest my being there and using my name to make dinner reservations. Is that you?
4. I am licensed, registered and credentialed as a registered dietitian. I do not hold a medical license.
Your request for me to relocate is not appropriate. I love Aspen and plan to live here for the rest of my life.
