Colorado Rockies infielder Ian Stewart was named National League Rookie of the Month for July.
In 12 games last month, Stewart led all National League rookies with a .432 (19 for 44) batting average and 15 RBI. The 23-year-old infielder added one home run, five doubles and eight runs scored with a .614 slugging percentage and a .519 on-base percentage for the Rockies.
Stewart, the 10th overall selection in the 2003 draft, recorded a hit in 11 of his 12 games, including four two-hit games and a pair of three-hit games. On July 22 against the Dodgers, Stewart went three for three with a home run, and tied a career-high with four RBIs.
