We all know Aspen is a special place. But why? Let me try to answer that by describing what happened on June 26, at 7:30 p.m., between the Music Tent and Harris Hall. The final notes of Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker” floated out on the warm air as the Aspen Chamber Symphony completed another wonderful performance. Sunlight slanted through the aspen trees as eager young students and AMFS fans lined up for tickets for the Emerson concert later that night.
The chatter was about many things. Some people compared notes on the streamed concerts from the previous few days, informal student groups discussed a master class from the previous night. No harsh sounds, nothing out of place, peaceful but definitely not dull.
