Love karaoke but feel like you can’t sing? Or maybe you just want to focus more on your sick moves instead of the lyrics. Well, this Saturday’s lip-sync battle in Carbondale might be just what you’re looking for.

The Love Me Some Lipsync Battle is being put on by Carbondale Arts and will be hosted at Batch at the Roaring Fork Beer Company. The inaugural event is open to 20 individuals, teams or business groups.

“We just thought it would be fun,” said Amy Kimberly, executive director of Carbondale Arts. “It’s something that we thought up together because we really wanted to do some lip syncs.”

Kimberly said that she has won lip-sync battles in Telluride, and she’s excited to bring the competition to the valley. Carbondale Arts will have a team at the competition, as will Batch. Kimberly went on to say that if the event on Saturday goes well, the battle will become an annual thing in the valley.

Batch, which is located across the alley from Carbondale Arts’ headquarters at the Launchpad, will also be donating 10 percent of beer sales to Carbondale Arts. They also matched the prize money offered, raising the first-place prize to $200 cash. Other prizes include Roaring Fork Beer Company gift cards and a gift certificate to the antique gift shop.

Anyone interested in signing up to (not) sing should email Kimberly at Kimberly said that if people get inspired, they should call in advance with the song they want to sing, or at least make sure to bring the song to the event on Saturday. Props and costumes are also “more than encouraged.” The competition kicks off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9. For more information, visit

So, if you find yourself with no plans on Saturday night and you feel particularly inspired to show off your Queen, Madonna or any other lip-sync skills, head on over to Batch and show ’em what you’ve got.
