DURANGO, Colo. (AP) — A Colorado county coroner has ruled the deaths of a man and woman were the result of a murder-suicide.
The Durango Herald reports that the corner says 57-year-old Edward Ogden shot 63-year-old Gloria Casias multiple times early Sunday morning before shooting himself in southwest Colorado.
Durango police and the La Plata County Sheriff's Office deployed SWAT teams to assist the Southern Ute Police after gunshots were reported inside a residence around 4:30 a.m.
Police say a handgun was found after a tactical robot was used to search the home when attempts to contact people inside were unsuccessful.
Authorities say domestic violence may have been the motive behind Casias's killing.
The sheriff's office says deputies spoke to Ogden the previous evening and he told them Casias's son-in-law had assaulted him.
