A windy, cool day is expected across New England as a storm

system departs the area tomorrow. A few showers of rain and

snow can linger across Maine. A swath of rain will sweep

from the central Great Lakes to the central Appalachians as

milder air builds to the south. The warmup will commence

from the mid-Mississippi and Ohio valleys to the southern

Appalachians with temperatures 10-20 degrees Fahrenheit

higher than on Monday. Mainly dry weather is forecast to

prevail across the nation's midsection and South. A storm

will spread through the West with cool, windy and damp

conditions. Rain showers will extend from the northern

Rockies to parts of Southern California and the Desert

Southwest, where a few thunderstorms can also rumble. Rain

may dampen the Pacific Northwest by the end of the day.
