The slate is set for the April 7 Basalt Town Council election.

According to town clerk Pam Schilling, the following candidates submitted the required paperwork, including nominating petitions, by the Jan. 27 deadline.

Three men have tossed their hats in the ring for mayor: Former Town Manager Bill Kane, current Councilmember Bill Infante and former Councilmember Rob Leavitt. Mayor Jacque Whitsitt is term-limited— she’s nearing the end of her second term — and can’t run this year.

The race for town council will be competitive as well, with six candidates vying for three seats. Incumbent Jennifer Riffle will be challenged by Glenn Drummond, Elyse Hottel, David Knight, Tiffany Haddad and Kirk “Dieter” Schnidler. Current councilmembers Auden Schendler and Katie Schwoerer have opted not to seek reelection.

The Roaring Fork Weekly Journal, an Aspen Daily News sister publication, will be hosting candidate forums in advance of the April 7 election. More information and specific dates will be published soon.
