All under control

Despite red-flag warnings for lower-elevation areas Friday, afternoon conditions proved ideal for a prescribed burn on the Collins Creek drainage in Woody Creek. “It went really well,” said David Boyd, public affairs officer for the White River National Forest. “We were able to burn 1,200 acres. There were no control issues — the highest winds on top of the ridge were 16 mph, so there were some concerns about red-flag warnings at lower elevations, but the conditions were great for this fire.”
