The Aspen-Pitkin County Housing Authority has hired a new compliance manager.
Bethany Spitz, APCHA’s first ever compliance manager, is tasked with working toward education and enforcement of the authority’s rules. Her duties will include outreach, investigation of alleged violations, conducting random compliance audits and making recommendations on enforcement actions. The compliance manager will also act as APCHA’s internal policy and organizational expert on all regulatory manners.
“I’m excited for this new role,” said Spitz in a press release. “APCHA provides such a powerful benefit to the Aspen community and I am eager to participate in maintaining the integrity of the system for current and future participants. I look forward to helping the community better understand the requirements of the APCHA guidelines and deed restrictions.”
Spitz began her role this week, having moved from her job at Aspen Skiing Co. as a human resources regulatory compliance manager. Spitz received a law degree from the University of Maine and a B.A. in environmental science from Colby College.
“For the last several years APCHA has been working on increasing its education and enforcement role,” APCHA Executive Director Mike Kosdrosky said in the press release. “We believe that creating a position to focus exclusively on compliance will best serve the community. As the workforce housing program has grown, so has its complexity and rules. To strengthen public trust in the program, it is necessary to take a more proactive role in educating everyone involved in the APCHA system about their roles and responsibilities.”
