Massive rock crashes onto 133, closing it

A roughly 25-foot boulder crashed onto Highway 133 at Nettle Creek about 10 miles south of Carbondale just before noon Saturday, closing the road in both directions. No one was injured, said Levi Borst, a sergeant with the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office. One lane reopened around 2:40 p.m. but drivers should expect significant delays. The first people on scene said they saw a second boulder on the hillside, upper right, shifting when they arrived, Borst said. It will likely have to be dealt with before 133 can fully reopen, he said.
