Traffic impacts related to the 27th Street Bridge Project in Glenwood Springs will begin to ramp up beginning today, Jan. 14, from around 7 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., according to a press release. It is anticipated that one lane on the bridge will be closed and traffic will be alternating in a one-way configuration.
Delays are anticipated.
Beginning Tuesday, Jan. 15, “Motorists and trail users should anticipate short, intermittent holds and delays on the bridge, S. Grand Avenue and on Atkinson Trail near the construction area,” the release continued.
“The lane-closure and holds are for construction access as crews clear the grub and trees, remove street light poles and trench for utility work in preparation for construction on the new, separated pedestrian bridge which will be built to the north of the current bridge,” it was noted.
Motorists are advised to plan ahead for delays and to allow extra time when traveling through the area, especially during peak times (6:30-9 a.m. and 4-7 p.m.).
Business access remains open.
There will be a community information meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 5, at the Glenwood Springs Community Center.
The drop-in period is between 5:30-7 p.m.; a short presentation at 6 p.m. followed by a question-and-answer session is planned.
“Learn more about the project including timeline, work activities and traffic and river impacts,” the release noted. Light refreshments will be provided.
