Effective since the beginning of 2019, anyone purchasing tobacco products, including vaping supplies from Sundance Liquor and Gifts in Snowmass Village must show proof they are at least 21 years old.
The longtime local retailer based in the Snowmass Center published a statement recently noting that it would start enforcing an age change to remain consistent with that of neighboring constituencies.
“Sundance currently is governed only by Colorado State regulations requiring proof of 18 years of age. The owners of Sundance are making this voluntary change because they feel is important to align with newly adopted 21-year-old regulations in Aspen and Basalt,” according to a statement issued by Andrew Wickes, whose family has owned Sundance for decades.
In an email, town councilman Bill Madsen thanked Wickes “for taking the lead on this initiative.”
