Our beloved brother, also known as “Nails” was born in Santa Monica Beach, CA and died in Basalt, CO tragically and unexpectedly. He was a spirited soul who leaves behind his beautiful daughter Katie Michelle, her mother Stacy, his father John and John’s wife Susan, two brothers Mark and Patrick, as well as several cousins, and aunts Rita, Suzie and Lorraine. We trust he was welcomed on high by his brother John and his mother Dolores, as well as two sets of grandparents, his aunt

Joan and uncles Bud and John. Michael’s childhood proved to be a magical one filled with activities in which he excelled, a youth baseball champion several times and a solid athlete in many other sports. His love for skiing brought him to Colorado, where he found joy in opportunity at work and fun. Our brother loved to work hard and it showed in his solid work ethic, but his true life love was his daughter Katie. He would light up when they were together and it was obvious the bond they were growing. One of the things we remember of Michael was his welcoming and sturdy handshake. He enjoyed meeting people and was easy to befriend. He will be missed by many in his tribe, as well as our direct family who are so proud of the recent progress and accomplishments he was making in his life. His skilled hands will be welcomed in the heavens and we hope Michael sends a few signs here and there to let us know he is watching over us all. Michael will likely join his brother and mother and share their final resting place together in California. An informal celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Sept. 15th at Stubbies in Basalt around 3 pm. All are welcome to bring cheer and closing to this chapter of our lives.
