So commuters are still parking at the airport taking spaces from bonafide travelers. The answer to this problem? To charge the miscreants and legitimate users of Sardy Field more money. That’s called the “Aspen Solution.”
Ever hear of enforcement? An observant third-grader can tell the difference between those parking and heading to the terminal and those (the ones without the luggage) who head to the bus stop. A few weeks of enforcement between the hours of 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. would likely go a long way to mitigating the problem. This makes more sense than punishing real airport customers along with those “getting over.”
County commissioners, how about we try this before we tag the airport with downtown Aspen parking rates? The flying public and regular folks of Pitkin County would appreciate it.
