Regarding U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner’s statement “I don’t support gun control” (Aspen Times, Aug. 6, 2019), Canada has twice the number of registered guns than the United States. Most of these guns are hunting rifles and shotguns. Assault weapons are banned and handguns are highly regulated.

In a year’s time, all of Canada has half the number of gun-related deaths as the city of Chicago. Is this because of gun control, or is it that Canadians are more polite?
