Mr. Hornblower’s remarks on taxation (“Make 99% carry more of the tax burden”, Aspen Daily News, Aug. 10) are absurd, no matter what the “Tax Policy Center” (whatever that is) says. I have been in the sub-$86,000 category my entire life and it’s highly unlikely that me and my colleagues are going to experience an income-tax-free year. That’s simply not the current tax code. Furthermore, the wealthy pay their fair share, yet also are eligible for many tax breaks that often alter the playing field, post-taxation. It’s misleading to say that the wealthy shoulder “most of the burden”, when they also experience astronomical rebates, (after they have paid). It’s just more voodoo economics, from an apologist for the greedy.
