I would like to extend a hearty “Welcome Back!” to Tom O’Keefe, from wherever he has been. Evidently he’s been away for some time, and has missed the fact that rampant growth is going on in Willits (Pitkin), not Eagle County. I would also like to point out for the edification of all, that the permit process is based upon zoning law and regulations, not public referendum votes, and the like. The commissioners are not at liberty to allow or disallow projects based on personal convictions, or public sentiment, if the project in question does not require a variance. If the laws and regulations need to be changed, then so be it, however it’s patently unconstitutional to craft legislation with the intent to target a particular class or individual.
